This begins and ends with River Song. Sure, there are quite a few badasses throughout Doctor Who–like Jack Harkness, Madame Vastra, and the Doctor himself to name a few–but they all fall short of reaching River’s level. The picture I chose for this post is when she singlehandedly kills a Dalek. Yeah, it was damaged already, but one does not simply solo a Dalek. Oh, and she makes it beg for mercy three times before she shoots it. I love River Song.
I really didn’t know what to think when she first showed up, though, in the “Silence in the Library”/”Forest of the Dead” two-parter She was this mysterious woman who somehow knew the Doctor intimately, and then she died. When she finally returns (yeah, returns) during Eleven’s run, I was ready to find out her story. And, wow! What a story. All sorts of wibbles, wobbles, times, and wimes.
I won’t get into her whole history, but I do want to close this out by listing some more of her wonderfully badass actions: Using Hitler as bait; outwitting the Doctor…multiple times; treating her prison like a hotel from which she can check in and out at her leisure; defeating a room full of Silence pretty much by herself; and re-writing reality to protect her beloved. And those are just the ones that immediately come to mind. Basically, River Song could give any badass a run for their money.
